“Wide-angle” is the Photo Theme for January
Wide-angle – A wide-angle photo is generally one taken with a wide-angle lens with a focal length of 35mm or shorter (FLE), which gives you a wide field of view. The wider your field of view, the more of the scene you’ll be able to see in the frame. These lenses are ideal for many scenarios, and most photographers have at least one trusty wide-angle lens in their kit. Wide-angle lenses give a somewhat distorted view of the a scene; straight lines that appear curved, closer objects appear larger than normal, and distant objects appear smaller than normal.
Some tips: 1) Get close to you subject to make it more prominent; 2) Shoot at an angle so everything in your view IS NOT equidistant from your lens; 3) Try not to include too much in your image; 4) Take unflattering images of people (at your own risk) by getting close and distorting their features; and, 5) Don’t use a wide-angle lens because it’s “cool,” be deliberate in what you photograph.
Create photographs that fit the theme and upload up to five of them to the club’s Monthly Photo Themes flickr group. Please tag them with the key word fantasy. Post them during January not before or after. That way they’ll appear together with other club member’s images.
