Jeff DuBridge is our featured photographer for September 2024.
Artist’s Statement: I am 6’4″ tall, average 180 pounds, and am in excellent shape both in muscular strength and cardiovascular capability, yet I have chronic pain and chronic fatigue 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Initially, I wanted to go into the past and show everyone my photography from many years ago before my health started to fail. Instead, I chose to share what I captured in 2024. My medical condition, mainly peripheral neuropathy, extremely restricts my physical and mental endeavors to just a few hours every day. Instead of crying and saying that I couldn’t travel very far, go on a walk, or even stand or sit for short periods, I decided to not let such restrictions ruin my life.
Each of these photographs was taken in 2024 while my mobility has been greatly restricted, yet I refuse to let one problem ruin my life. Many photographs are local, even in my front and backyard.
Finally, what I thought was my wasted education in chemistry, statistics, psychology, and other areas is now paying off since I recently started a treatment program that seems to be improving my previously unfixable condition.
