“Purple” is the Photo Theme for September

Purple – Purple has had a long history in visual arts.  From prehistoric to modern artworks, purple has come to represent aspects of religion, royalty and status.  Over history, the limited resources and arduous processes needed to obtain rich purples made it an expensive luxury.  Perhaps due to its uncommon and distinctive presence in nature, purple has also been attributed to exoticism, mystery, and magic. Although it’s less available than other colors in the urban and natural landscape, purple is a favorite for many photographers.  Because of its historically rare beauty, purple is often used to convey the surreal, the modern and the artificial.  Find and photograph purple this month.

Create photographs that fit the theme and upload up to five of them to the club’s Monthly Photo Themes flickr group.  Post them during September not before or after.  That way they’ll appear together with other club member’s images.
