“Animals” is the Photo Theme for October
Animals – Most people have pets or birds in their backyard, so there is no need to venture too far from home to find a suitable animal to photograph. This makes animals one of the best photographic subjects.
Animals are going to do what they’re going to do. Unfortunately, you can’t ask them to look this way, do something cute, or stand where the light is better. You have to be there, and ready, when they decide to look cute or do something interesting. Be prepared to wait, and wait, and wait—it takes a long time to get good animal shots, even longer to make great ones. Some animals have little to no patience and will not sit still waiting for you to take a photograph so use your creativity to capture the most striking photographs.
Tips: Use a zoom lens and crop in tight to eliminate distracting backgrounds. Focus on the eyes. Try and capture the animal doing something, it will make for a more interesting picture.
Create photographs that fit the theme and upload up to five of them to the club’s Monthly Photo Themes flickr group. Post them during October, not before or after, that way they’ll appear together with other club member’s images.
