“Statues” is the Photo Theme For September
Statues – Finding statues is mostly easy and they can be found in many public places like parks, libraries, museums, churches, town and city squares, etc. Historical. political and government buildings commonly have statues in remembrance or to celebrate their lives. Photographing statues is an artist’s view of another artist’s work.
To fill the frame you’ll often find yourself shooting from a low angle and the statue will look distorted, big at the bottom and smaller at the top. A better approach is to stand a bit further back and use the longer setting of your zoom lens to crop tighter. This will produce a photo with a more natural angle and blur a busy background. Also try using a neutral density filer to make a really long exposure; a long exposure will blur moving people thud eliminating clutter in your image.
Create photographs that fit the theme and upload up to five of them to the club’s Monthly Photo Themes flickr group. Post them during September, not before or after, that way they’ll appear together with other club member’s images.
