Rodney Myatt is our featured photographer for May 2024.
Artist’s Statement: I am retired from the Biology Department at San Jose State, where I taught various botany and ecology classes. So most of my photos over the years have been of plants, animals, and natural landscapes. I enjoy travel and had the opportunity to visit several places, such as Costa Rica, Guatemala, Brazil, and Madagascar, as well as some of Europe. I regret not having been to Asia, Australia, and Africa yet. I really enjoy seeing other cultures. Death Valley and other places in the southwest have been my most frequent locations. Many of my trips have been with students in my classes. I especially like candid photos of people (kids), and interesting objects in nature. Of course, my kids and grandkids are favorite subjects. Most of my photos are taken as is, with minimal photoshopping. I’m just not that good at artistic manipulations.
