“Black and White” Photographic Exhibit

Home » “Black and White” Photographic Exhibit

Black and white photography uses different tones of gray or a monochrome color ranging from light to dark to create compelling images.  The absence of different colors means that the photographer needs to concentrate on other aspects of the scene since color cannot be used as a compositional element.

Therefore the photographer looks for contrast, shapes and textures and tries to emphasize them using long exposures; selective dodging and burning; patterns; filters (such as infrared); and, all the time remembering that black makes white “pop.”

The Morgan Hill Photography Club invites you to enter this monochromatic world.  We hope you enjoy the show.
