Yerba Buena Lighthouse – Shootout
Date: March 2, 2015 | Time: 4:00PM – 7:00PM
Here is your chance to photograph the lighthouse on Yerba Buena Island during sunset. The lighthouse is located on U.S. Coast Guard property and access is restricted, however, the Coast Guard has given us permission for this event. You will be able to photograph the lighthouse, with the San Francisco skyline in the background and other views of the city from the area we have been given access. You will not be able to access the shoreline since it is seal mating season. Stay for dinner after the shootout at a restaurant to be determined.
Equipment you should consider are: a lens, or several lenses, covering 24mm to 400mm; a sturdy tripod is a must after dark; a fully charged battery; and, an extra memory card. A remote or cable shutter release is optional, but recommended if using a tripod. Dress appropriately for the weather.
Carpools will leave promptly at 2:30PM from the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center. For this shootout we must travel as a group. Entrance to the Coast Guard station is through a locked gate and we must all be there at the same time (4:00PM) to gain access.
Contact Mike McElvy to confirm your attendance, arrange carpools, or obtain additional information. Please include your cell phone number and email address.
After the shootout club members can upload their best images to the club’s Shootout flickr® group pool. Title your images “Yerba Buena Island” and tag or keyword them with the date “02MAR15“. If you are a club member but not a member of flickr® learn how to join here.
