Here is your chance to photograph the lighthouse Admiral’s Residence located on Yerba Buena Island during sunset (7:34PM). Situated on U.S. Coast Guard property in San Francisco Bay, access is restricted, however, the Coast Guard has given us permission for this event. You will be able to photograph the lighthouse, with the San Francisco skyline in the background, the exterior of the Admiral’s residence, and other views of the city from the area we have been given access. You may not be able to access the shoreline since because of seal mating activities.
All cameras will work well here – camera/tablet phones, compact cameras, and DSLRs. Additional equipment you should consider are: a lens, or several lenses, covering 24mm to 400mm; a sturdy tripod is a must after dark; a fully charged battery; and, an extra memory card. A remote or cable shutter release is optional, but recommended if using a tripod. Dress appropriately for the weather.
Carpools will leave promptly at 2:00PM from the Morgan Hill Community and Cultural Center. For this shootout we must travel as a group. Entrance to the Coast Guard station is through a locked gate and we must all be there at the same time (4:00PM) to gain access. We will leave at 8:45PM and either catch a bite to eat on the way home or return directly to the Community and Cultural Center by 10:00 PM. You may want to bring snacks, water and other nourishment with you just in case.
Contact Mark Grzan to confirm your attendance, arrange carpools, or obtain additional information. Please include your cell phone number and email address.
After the shootout club members can upload their images to the club’s Photo Shootout flickr® group pool. Title your images “Yerba Buena 2018” and tag or keyword them with the date “03APR18“. If you are a club member but not a member of flickr® learn how to join here.
