Horsetail Fall – Shootout
Date: February 18 to 20, 2015
Once again it is time to head to Yosemite National Park to photograph Horsetail Fall and try to reproduce the image “Last Light on Horsetail Fall, California 1973” made famous by Galen Rowland. The participants will also be photographing other locations (to be announced) throughout the park over the next two days.
Equipment you should consider are: a camera that has the capability of manual settings and focus; a lens, or combination of lenses, that will cover both wide angle and moderate telephoto; and, a sturdy tripod (a must for this shootout because of the anticipated long exposures).
Carpools will leave from the Gilroy area around 7AM on Wednesday, February 18. The majority of the participants will be staying at the Yosemite View Lodge, 11136 Highway 140, El Portal, CA 95318 [Phone: 209-379-2681]. However you may stay wherever you want. For those traveling by themselves the group plans to meet at 1:30PM in the park (location to be announced) in order to secure a parking spot before shooting the fall at sunset.
Contact Mike McElvy to confirm your attendance, arrange carpools, or obtain additional information. Please include your cell phone number and email address.
