What We’re About

Our Mission:

Established in April 2008, the Morgan Hill Photography Club is located in Santa Clara County, California. The purpose of the club is to foster an appreciation and understanding of photography as an art form, and to promote and develop the photographic knowledge and skills of its members through social interaction and events.

By using special interest groups (focus groups), educational programs, exhibitions, group critiques, photographic field trips (shootouts), image sharing, and other activities the club provides opportunities to learn, discuss, and practice all aspects of good picture taking.

Whether you are just buying your first camera or you are a seasoned professional, the Morgan Hill Photography Club has much to offer.

Meetings:

As part of our general meeting members and guests are asked to discuss one of their images that they bring with them either as a print or a file on a mobile digital device. Image sharing gives members and guests an opportunity to ask one another about various aspects of photography. But, most importantly it allows participants to meet others with similar interests, socialize, and admire some excellent photography.

Anyone interested in joining the club is free to attend as our guest.

Before each General meeting, from 6-6:45PM, several Club members are available to explain the various aspects of our club in an orientation designed for both potential and existing members. They are there to answer your questions about the club and its activities, and can help you set up Flickr and/or Yahoo accounts. New club members, existing club members, or anyone interested in joining the club are free to attend the orientation.

Programs:

At each of our General Meetings, except for December*, the club endeavors to present an educational program that benefits all members regardless of the member’s experience or the type of equipment used. Such programs include, but are not limited to, guest speakers, equipment demonstrations or discussions, round tables, print critiques, photo scavenger hunts, etc.

* Our annual social is held at our December meeting and as a result there is no program that evening.

Membership:

All that is required for membership is a desire to become a better photographer and a willingness to share your experience and knowledge with other members. Those who think they might like to join are welcome to attend one of our general meetings as a guest. You may also download a membership application which provides more information about membership terms, conditions, and dues.
